Our trip starts at our tour center in central Oslo. From there, we’ll board the metro, and enjoy a scenic train ride through the stunning winter landscape. As we leave the city behind, the views over the fjord will unfold before you, setting the stage for a day of exploration.

As you reach the Frognerseteren station, you will be greeted by crisp fresh air and breathtaking panoramic views. From here, our hike will wind through the winter forest, and past small frozen ponds said to be inhabited by the mystical creature named Huldra

Our first stop is a charming Norwegian cabin called DNT Fuglemyrhytta - a small cabin that offers a cozy spot to relax, maybe have a snack, and take in the views.

From here, our adventure continues through the snow laden forest to the most spectacular spot of our journey – the summit of Vettakollen mountain. From here, you can feast your eyes on large parts of Oslo, the Oslo fjord, and its serene coastline, dotted with numerous small islands. Here we will enjoy a break in the heart of nature, and a moment of nordic "hygge," meaning a peaceful moment shared with good company. Don’t worry, we have plenty of time for photographs!

After enjoying the view, we will stroll down to the metro station and finish our trip back in downtown Oslo. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or a nature enthusiast looking to experience Oslo's beauty, the Vettakollen hike to the top of Oslo is a must-do experience.

*If there are not enough guests for the group tour to run, you will be offered the choice of a tour spot on a different date or a full refund*

PLEASE NOTE: Tickets for the Metro are not included in the standard group tour price, this must be purchased separately. You can buy tickets from us in our shop at Kongens gate 14, or you can buy tickets directly from the public transport company Ruter. You can also buy the OsloPass from VisitOslo which gives you discounts to museums, as well as free public transport throughout Oslo.

Travelling is all about sharing experiences, so why not join our group tours together with friends or family? We will be delighted to offer you a group discount:

  • Booking groups of 10+ people can save 10% per person
  • Group discounts will be applied against the base price of the tour
